About

Three people smile while posing indoors with a large photo frame reading "2025 Civic Innovation Exchange".

The Exchange Northwest is a regional collaboration built to strengthen how our communities learn, innovate, prepare for the future, and solve problems together. We connect public agencies, educators, businesses, startups, nonprofits, and residents in a shared effort to explore ideas, test new approaches, and support solutions that make a difference for communities across the Northwest. We build and grow the innovative and community spirit that helped shaped the region.

The partnership with City of Bellevue, Bellevue College, Wa Tech at Washington State and King County Information Technology focuses on expanding digital equity, supporting small businesses and startups, connecting education and living wage jobs, and helping public services be as innovative as the communities we serve.

Through our programs, challenge cycles, and community events, the Exchange acts as a neutral place to build, learn, and collaborate, bringing people together to turn good ideas into real possibilities for the region.

Our work centers on:

  • Digital equity — expanding access, skills and opportunity across the region.
  • Partnerships — linking public, private, academic, and community organizations to support skills and job growth.
  • Civic innovation — designing better services, tools, and experiences for residents.
  • Economic growth and resilience — supporting startups and small businesses.
